Batteries: Scale Building: Power IC
Cheap Rx. Discharger   Max Propellor RPM
Nicad charging time calculation.
Rx. Parallel Batteries: By Red Scholefield
Fabrication:   Power Electric

Discharging: Picked this one up from a mag. cost effective if you are an infrequent flyer.

Connect your Rx pack to a 12 volt car bulb, the bulb will eventually extinguish once the batteries are flat without exceeding the pack maximum discharge. You can cycle large mah packs this way - connect and forget.

Charging Time Formula: battery mah x constant / charge rate mah

eg. Std futaba charger output of 70 mah to charge Tx pack of 700mah requires charge time of

700mah  x  constant 1.4 = 980 / charge rate 70 mah = 14hrs.

Here's a handy table:

      Hours
Chg.  Rate
300 3.27   4.20   4.67   7.00   9.3   11.6

240 4.08   5.25   5.83   8.75   11.6   14.6

180 5.44   7.00   7.78   11.67   15.5   19.5

120 8.16   10.50   11.67   17.50   23.3   29.16

90 10.89   14.00   15.56   23.33   31.1   38.8

Propeller Safety calculation - Fibre Glass Reinforced in order for the water content to stay trapped in the propeller!

Using the formula Constant safe value 3438 (includes a limiting factor). The maximum RPM of the propeller is governed by the diameter of the propeller (SI Units: metres).

  1" = 2.54cm

11" or 28cm diameter propellers max RPM is:

3438 / 0.28

12,278 RPM
