When do you meet/fly ? Saturday, Sunday throughout the year and Wednesday, Friday evenings during summer months weather permitting. Can anyone join your club ? Yes we are open to new member applications. Members range from Junior to Senior citizen's your never too old, juniors learn quicker but seniors can get more flying time! Membership is currently £25.00 per annum. How do I learn to Fly ? Beginners receive instruction from experienced club flyers & assistance as necessary. Does it cost a lot ? Like all Hobbies that's up to the individual's purse. Talk to a club member before buying. We all have ideas and suitable aircraft for beginners. I don't have the skill or time to build an aeroplane or helicopter ! You're not alone, many flyers now buy ARTF almost ready to fly aircraft & helicopters. These 'kits' are almost completely built and covered (painted) only requiring the major parts to be joined , engine (ic) or electric motor and of course the radio control. However, if you enjoy making things you can buy kits & bits to build or even plans and start from scratch. The club has a wealth of modelling talent should you need help. also see: The RC Plane & Construction Guide Do I need Insurance ? All members require insurance to fly. There are two organisations which offer this: Scottish Aero modellers Association SAA and the British Modellers Flying Association BMFA. Costs are approximately £20.00 per year for £5M liability. These organisations also offer a skill achievement level to allow flying within public displays & a great deal more than insurance see there respective websites.
