Stu's Comments: Went without incident, very windy for a first flight but the model coped flawlessly. I had placed an Eagletree logger to record flight data & battery loading (see below) using older larger servos, with a max torque of about 8Kg. This model in high wind never pulled more than 2 amps throughout the whole 15 minute flight. However its worth pointing out that the Rx.pack is 6v (higher voltage less amps.) The Eagletree shows real time readings via the power panel or max values (mounted in cockpit) along with the downloadable flight data which shows my poor cowling opening - wasn't enough as the engine temp reached 130ºc. In fact the engine did cough once or twice late into the flight under 3/4 throttle - just as well to find out now rather than in the height of summer and an engine seizure & possible rough landing! The Eagletree is an excellent tool not just for electric models - highly recommended. Instrument snapshot from Super Stearman - 1st flight.
NB. No i don't get any commission from Eagletree - I just
like it!!!!
